FAQ

How is my hourly rate worked out from a salary?

Annual salary ÷ 52 weeks ÷ contracted hours per week. £30,000 on 37.5 hours is £15.38 an hour, so time and a half is £23.08.

Is overtime taxed more?

No. Overtime is added to your pay and taxed at your normal marginal rate, so a basic-rate taxpayer in England keeps about 72p of each extra £1.
